Sudip Gupta
Sudip Gupta Professor Gupta has joined the faculty at the ISB as an Assistant Professor of Finance in early 2006. He completed his Ph.D. in economics from University of Wisconsin, Madison specializing in empirical industrial organization and econometrics. His dissertation was on estimation of dynamic auction games with applications to US offshore oil tract auctions.

His current research works include estimation of auction models, corporate finance, behavioral finance and market microstructure. His consultancy and industry experiences include merger simulation models, energy and automobiles.

Prof Gupta was involved in developing merger simulation models as a special consultant of the Economists Inc., (EI) Washington DC. While at EI, he was involved in the high profile merger of Whirlpool and Maytag which was unconditionally approved by the US Department of Justice in March 2006.

At the University of Wisconsin and at the Indian Statistical Institute Prof Gupta taught Ph.D. level courses in econometrics and statistics and undergraduate level courses in microeconomics, law and economics and industrial organization. At the ISB he teaches behavioral finance to MBA students.

Soon after his undergraduate studies in India, he conducted independent research funded by the United Nation’s Development Program (UNDP) and the ministry of finance, Government of India on the market for human organs in India and co-authored two books on the subject.

Professor Gupta has presented his research in various international conferences including the 2005 World Congress of the Econometric Society, summer meetings of the Econometric Society, annual meeting of the Population Association of America, and is a recipient of many awards.

Professor Gupta has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, USA. He was a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Statistical Institute.
