Amit Bubna

Professor Bubna has joined the faculty at the ISB as Assistant Professor in 2004. Prior to this, he was a Managing Economist in the California office of LECG, LLC, a leading economic consulting services firm that provides complex economic and financial analysis for a wide range of customers, including Fortune 100 companies, regulatory bodies, and international financial institutions. In his consulting capacity at LECG, Professor Bubna worked on a number of projects, including telecom spectrum auctions, anti-trust matters, copyright infringement and damages in litigation. He has provided consulting services on economic issues in a wide variety of industries, including financial institutions, retail tracking services and pharmaceuticals. He co-authored a report on the impact of a cap on non-economic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits on physicians’ incentives, cost and quality of health care.


Professor Bubna has taught economics to undergraduates at the University of California at Berkeley . He has also been a guest lecturer at the Haas School of Business, University of California where he spoke on the role of venture capital in funding new ventures.


Professor Bubna’s research interests include microeconomic theory, with applications in areas such as informal finance, venture capital, bankruptcy and auctions; comparative institutional analysis; corporate finance, and law and economics. His article on venture capital syndication was published in Research in Finance.
