CITNE and CEE launch the Accenture Management Development Academy (AMDA) in India

CITNE along with the Centre for Executive Education at the Indian School of Business has recently launched the Accenture Management Development Academy (AMDA) in India. This extensive IT management initiative addresses the challenge of developing a globally capable middle-manager layer in the rapidly growing Indian IT/ITeS industry. The programme involves multiple levels of certification and will be delivered using multiple channels; online, classroom and on-the-job training programmes. It is designed to develop and nurture leaders from Accenture’s mid-level management in India thereby transforming them into business leaders capable of operating in a global business environment.

CITNE global faculty comprising Professor Ravi Bapna (ISB), Professor Alok Gupta (Minnesota) and Professor V Sambamurthy (Michigan State) designed the curriculum for the Academy and will continue to serve on its academic advisory board. The final design is based on extensive structured interviews and focus group based requirement and gap analysis. It was found that while on the content side delivery excellence and communication skills are currently emphasized, there is a significant gap in the areas of business process, industry or vertical knowledge and innovation. In addition, while a vast knowledge repository exists, there is the lack of a curricular framework that cohesively integrates the learning.

In order to address these gaps the Academy will offer 18- to 24-month programmes, upon completion of which, the employees will be awarded ISB-Accenture certificates for excellence in delivery management. The programme is expected to train over 10,000 Indian educated engineers to become globally capable IT managers over the next four years.

This collaboration is in line with CITNE’s mission to promote innovative thinking in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in business and society, develop global best practices and enhance competitiveness in the Indian IT/ ITES sector. It will have a positive impact on emerging economies in developing leadership talent in different sections of society.
