Sam Pitroda
Chairman, Prime Minister’s National Innovation Council
Credited with laying the foundation of India´s technology and telecommunications revolution in the 1980s, Pitroda has been a leading campaigner to help bridge the global digital divide. He was the founder and first chairman of India´s Telecom Commission and the chairman of India´s National Knowledge Commission, an advisory body to the Prime Minister of India, set up to provide a blueprint for reform of the knowledge related institutions and infrastructure in the country.
Currently Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, he is the Chairman of the National Innovation Council (NInC) which is working on several initiatives to boost innovation performance in the country. Pitroda heads the Expert Committee on the use of ICT in Railways. He is the Chairman of the Smart Grid Task Force set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. He has recently been appointed the founding Commissioner of the United Nations Broadband Commission for Digital Development.
He holds close to 100 worldwide patents and has published and lectured widely in the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. |

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw

Shaw qualified as a Master Brewer from Ballarat University, Australia. Along with many other universities, her alma mater awarded her an honorary doctorate degree in 2004 in recognition of her pre-eminent contributions to the field of Biotechnology. A founder member of the Society for the formation of Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Ms. Shaw has been nominated as Member of the Board of Trade, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. In addition to several prestigious awards, both national and international, she is a recipient of the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan Awards. |

Professor Johan Roos
Former President, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
Dr Roos has worked as advisor and consultant to a wide range of industries on five continents and has held board positions in both listed and private companies. He holds a PhD in international business from Stockholm School of Economics. After a stint as a faculty member at the Norwegian School of Management and IMD in Lausanne, he became the Managing Director of Imagination Lab Foundation, Switzerland, for six years. For part of this time he was visiting professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He has held the Bo Rydin and SCA Chair in Strategy and he was Dean of MBA Programs at the Stockholm School of Economics. Professor Ambuj D Sagar is a Professor of Public Policy and Chairperson in the area of Policy Studies at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Prior to joining IIT, he was at the Kennedy School of Government and the School for Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard.

Dr B K Chakravarthy is a Professor at the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Bombay. After his Post Graduate Degree in Design from IIT Bombay, he obtained a PhD from IIT Delhi. He specializes in the area of innovation by design including new product innovation process and methodology. He actively researches in the field of Design Strategy, Humanizing Technology, Disruptive New Product Innovation and Collaborative Innovation Methodologies. Dr. B. Gurumoorthy is a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science in the Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests are in the areas of CAD, Product Information modelling, Computational Metrology and, Product design and prototyping. He did his B.Tech at IIT Madras followed by M.E. and Ph.D at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. He has 28 Journal publications and 3 patents. He serves on the editorial board of three journals. Two technologies (automatic feature recognition and visual interactive solids) developed in his laboratory have been licensed to industry and are in active use. Dr. Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra

Dr. Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra as President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments (TI) India leads R&D as well as Sales and Marketing in India. Previously, he was the Director of the Americas Wireless Communication Product Development activities at TI in Dallas. At TI Dallas, he led ultra-low power DSP core, the 'Best product of 15 years'. Under his leadership, TI established partnerships with over 700 universities in India.
Dr. Mitra is the Immediate Past Chairman and Executive Council Member of India Semiconductor Association (ISA). He is also the President of the VLSI Society of India (VSI). He received the 'Distinguished Alumni Award' from IIT Kharagpur in 2009. He has also received awards for being one of the top three R&D visionaries of India and for outstanding contributions to VLSI Design & Embedded Systems in India. Dr R David Koilpillai

R. David Koilpillai holds a B.Tech from IIT Madras, and MS, PhD in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology, USA. He joined IIT Madras as a Professor of Electrical Engineering, and is the Head of the Central Electronics Centre. He was the Co-Chair of the IITM special Task Force for setting up the IIT, Hyderabad. His expertise include cellular and broadband wireless systems, and DSP techniques for wireless communications. Previosly, he has also served as the Chief Scientist, Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT), a public-private R&D initiative where he launched the national project – Broadband Wireless Consortium of India (BWCI). Director, Intl Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI)
Dr.G.Sundararajan holds B.Tech (Metallurgy) from IIT, Madras and M.S and Ph.D from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. He began his career at Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) as a scientist. Later, he was appointed as Director of International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI). He is also responsible for establishing the Center for Laser Processing of Materials, the Surface Engineering Division at ARCI, the Center for Fuel Cell Technology at Chennai, and the Centre for Sol-Gel Nanocomposite Coatings at ARCI, and Advanced Materials Technology Incubator (AMT). At ARCI, as its Director, he contributed to commercialization of materials-based technologies wherein over 30 technologies have been transferred to private industries.
Dr. Sundararajan has received numerous awards including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize for Engineering Science (1994), Best Metallurgist award (1995), FICCI award for Materials Science (2004) etc. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences (1992), Indian National Science Academy (1996), Indian National Academy of Engineering (1999), National Academy of Science (2002), Indian Institute of Metals (2002), and the American Society for Materials (2005). He is also a recipient of the J.C Bose Fellowship for 5 years (2006-2011). He has published more than 170 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings. He is the President of the Materials Research Society of India (2011-13). |

A gold medalist in chemical engineering, Dr. Ananth obtained his PhD in Molecular Thermodynamics from the University of Florida, USA. Rajeev S is a visiting/adjunct faculty in strategy and innovation at IIM Bangalore and also teaches at IIM Ahmedabad and Kozhikode. He has worked in the computer industry for around 28 years, mostly in Silicon Valley, focusing on product and market innovation. He headed Solaris product management at Sun Microsystems, worked on Unix internals at Bell Labs, and marketed massively parallel computers for Siemens.
On returning to India, he was in charge of Java and Strategic Alliances for Sun Microsystems. Later he worked as COO/center head for a mid-sized IT services firm, as head of development for a wireless software startup, and as head of sales for a software startup in risk management and fraud detection. Recently, he advised India Post on its new micro-insurance product. He has also consulted with several venture capital firms and continues to be involved with several early stage startups.
Professor Rajeev holds a B Tech from IIT Madras, an MS in Computer Science from Syracuse, and an MBA from the Stanford Business School. He was a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminars in 2008. |

Sudhir Kumar Jain

Sudhir K Jain is Director at IIT, Gandhinagar. He holds B.E. (Civil) from University of Roorkee, and M.Sc. and PhD from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), US. Prior to joining IIT Gandhinagar, he worked as a Civil Engineering faculty at IIT Kanpur since 1984.
Professor Jain is an active researcher in earthquake engineering and has published more than 150 research papers. He has been instrumental in improving state-of-the-practice in the construction industry through development of Indian seismic codes and commentaries. His consulting assignments include bridges in high seismic regions of India, two concrete gravity dams in Sikkim, a base-isolated hospital in Simla, and a major crude oil pipeline. He consulted the World Bank on seismic safety issues in Srinagar and Istanbul. Along with mentoring several young professionals, he set up the National Information Center of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) at IIT Kanpur. He is also the key person behind the development of the National Program on Earthquake Engineering Education (NPEEE).
Professor Jain has shouldered many responsibilities at IIT Kanpur including Head of Civil Engineering Department (2001-2003); Chairman, Student Placement Committee (1995-96); Coordinator, Quality Improvement Programme (1997-1999); and Coordinator, Centre for Development of Technical Education (1997-1999); and Dean, Resource Planning and Generation (2005-2008).
