Consilium
On January 29, 2012 the Consulting Club at the Indian School of Business (ISB), along with the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Case Development (CTLC) at the ISB, concluded its 3-month long event titled, Consilium - a strategy-themed case competition developed with intellectual capital from one of India’s premier business schools.
In Consilium, students from some of the best institutions in the country were invited to formulate strategies in response to complex business challenges faced by companies as presented in the ISB-Ivey cobranded cases published or soon-to-be-published under the aegis of the CTLC and Ivey Publishing (Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario, Canada). Divided into three rounds, the competition commenced in November 2011 and ended in January 2012. Starting with 165 registrations, it was a fun filled and exciting opportunity for students and faculty to evaluate and observe various case solving techniques from some of the best budding managers from across India. The final 4 teams that emerged after two rounds and multiple evaluation processes, competed at the Grand Finale held at the ISB on January 29, 2012 for the top spot at Consilium. The finalists included teams from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT, Delhi), the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS, Delhi), and the Indian School of Business (ISB, Hyderabad). The case that was used, Nokia Life Tools, is soon to be published as an ISB-Ivey cobranded case. . The participants were judged by Professor Arun Pereira (Head, CTLC), Professor Raveendra Chittoor (Affiliated Faculty, CTLC), and Kirti Madhok Sud (Case Writer, Nokia Life Tools). The results of the Grand Finale of Consilium are as follows:
- Winners – Team BB Boyz (ISB): Aditya Ramnath, Jamesh Joseph, Aniruddh Kataruka
- 1st Runners Up – Anonymous 3 Strategists (FMS): Kunal Manchanda, Tejinder Singh, Rohit Mishra
- 2nd Runners Up – ISB Gunz (ISB): Harmanjit Singh, Sapna Jeslani, Rahul Khare
Consolation Prize– Truthful Liars (IIFT): Nishant Shekhar, Mohammad Farhan, Avinash Shandilya The event gave participants the ready ground for evaluating their own ability to lead organizations, prepare high level competitive business plans, and work in an environment outside the confines of the classroom. Consilium thus turned out be an outstanding platform for these future business leaders to prove and recognize their mettle before they foray into the “real world” of business and competition.
