Call for Proposal

Digital Identity Research Initiative (DIR) at the Indian School of Business is pleased to announce a fellowship program to conduct field research in India during the summer of 2018 from May 16 - August 15.

DIRI is a targeted and multidisciplinary research initiative to explore key questions around digital identity systems, with focus on Aadhaar, the unique identity system in India. DIRI seeks to establish a vigorous research ecosystem on Aadhaar with a view to address critical knowledge gaps through targeted engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The summer fellowship will provide the opportunity for Master’s and early-stage PhD students to participate in this exciting research agenda by conducting field research in India on questions broadly related to Aadhaar. Under this program, fellows have an opportunity to design and implement a research project, while interacting with and learning from peers as well as leading researchers.

Each fellow will produce a paper based on the research conducted during the fellowship to be published as part of our working papers series, and we also hope to curate edited volumes based on this body of work. We also expect that this opportunity will provide experience in both fieldwork and research design that will help to advance the fellows’ broader career trajectory. More generally, we envision that the fellowship program will foster a community of emerging scholars working in the area of digital identity in India.
