Ramana Sonti
Assistant Professor of Business

Professor Ramana Sonti’s paper, “Good IPOs draw in bad: Inelastic banking capacity and hot markets", co-authored with N Khanna and T H Noe, has been accepted for publication at the Review of Financial Studies, a top tier journal in Financial Economics.

He joined the faculty at the ISB as Assistant Professor in the Finance area in January 2006. Prior to this, he was an assistant professor at the A. B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. Before his doctoral studies, Professor Sonti worked in the investment banking arena at Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS), where he worked on a range of assignments spanning project financing, corporate advisory services and leasing.

Professor Sonti has taught a number of finance courses to undergraduates and graduates at Michigan State University, Kent State University and Tulane University. His research interests include institutional investment behaviour, corporate governance, and linkages between product markets and capital markets. He is currently working on a number of research projects in these and other areas. His research has been published in leading finance journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Financial Markets.

He completed his PhD in Finance from Michigan State University, USA and PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
