Professor of Accounting

Professor Sanjay Kallapur has recently had his paper, "Uncertainty, Real Options, and Cost Behavior: Evidence from Washington State Hospitals", coauthored with Leslie Eldenburg, published in the Journal of Accounting Research, which is one of the top 3 journals in the Accounting Area. He has published in major accounting journals such as The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and the Journal of Business, Finance, and Accounting.

He is currently a Professor of Accounting at the Indian School of Business. Prior to joining ISB, he was a tenured associate professor at the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. He has also been a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Professor Kallapur is a member of the American Accounting Association. He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for almost all of the major accounting journals, and is a member of the editorial board of The Accounting Review. His research interests mainly focus on financial and managerial accounting, auditing and corporate governance.

He received his PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University and his Master’s in Management Science from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, University of Bombay. He was the All-India first rank holder for the Final ICWAI examination.
