Professor Tarun JainTarun Jain is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Indian School of Business (ISB). His research interests are in Development, Labour, and Experimental Economics, with a particular focus on empirical studies on India. His current research includes papers on sex based differences in health and mortality outcomes, design of pay-for-performance schemes for school teachers, and the cycle rickshaw rental market, all using Indian data.

At the ISB, Professor Jain teaches a course in Information Economics that addresses information problems that arise in business environments, such as transactions with asymmetric information where one party does not have complete or perfect information about the other.

Prior to joining the ISB, Professor Jain was with the University of Virginia, from where he had obtained a PhD and a Masters in Economics. He has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Economics from Franklin and Marshall College. He has over 4 years of consulting experience at Charles River Associates Inc., Oliver Wyman, and Braun Consulting in the United States.
