Ajay Srinivasan, Aditya Birla Group, Addresses ISB Students
Ajay Srinivasan, CEO Financial Services, Aditya Birla Group, was at the Indian School of Business (ISB) where he spoke about the evolution of the Indian financial sector. In a candid and informative session, he also enlightened students on the growing opportunities provided by India in the financial services sector as well as career opportunities for MBA students.
The financial services group has a customer base of 5.5 million, with assets over $20 billion and 15000 employees. As head of the group, Srinivasan manages verticals such as life insurance, private equity, wealth management, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) as well as the broking and general insurance advisory.
Drawing upon his own professional experience, Srinivasan gave a detailed overview of the Indian Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sectors. According to him, the Indian financial sector is still underpenetrated and thus, presents a plethora of opportunities. He gave a detailed breakdown of the trends and growth projection of banking industry as well as the insurance and capital market sectors.
He also shared with students his career progression over the years and his experience as the chief executive of Fund Management at Prudential Asia Corporation, where he was instrumental in growing the fund under management from $3 billion to $70 billion.
Srinivasan spoke about his vision for the Aditya Birla Financial Services Group and its performance in recent years. He also shared a few personal mantras for leadership and management with the aspiring business students.
