Dr V Chandrasekhar

Professor V Chandrasekhar–Entrepreneurship, Executive Advisor-Indu Centre for Real Estate and Infrastructure. Prior to this he was Executive Director of Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (January 2005 – July 2008) at the Indian School of Business, Dr Chandrasekar brings a rich combination of academic and industry experience. He has been recently conferred the “Scholar of the Year Award” for the year 2010-11 by Ness Wadia College of Commerce, Pune.

Dr Chandrasekar has taught at institutions such as IIM (B), Indian Institute of Science, University of Denver and the University of Central Florida, Orlando where he secured a tenured appointment.  He has also been a Visiting Professor at the Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh, Scotland and the ESSEC Business School at Cergy, France.

Last few years has seen him conducting summer programs at the University of Ben-Gurion in Israel and the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia.  His teachings cover the area of entrepreneurship, emerging markets, new product development, venture creation and innovation.  He has been one of the pioneers in the teaching of Entrepreneurship in India.

Dr Chandrasekar is an Invited Steering Committee Member for the Techno Entrepreneurship Promotion Programme conducted by the Department of Science and Industrial Research, Government of India. An Associate Fellow at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. India, Chandrasekar has recently completed a “Study on Innovations in Indian SMEs” as co- investigator with Dr. Mary Mathew at IISc for the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India.  He is also a Committee Member for Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Creativity, Hyderabad set up by DSIR/DST. He is instrumental in developing the Real Estate program at ISB under the aegis of "Indu Projects Real Estate Research Chair" and brings to it considerable industry knowledge as a hospitality professional and consultant. 

His Paper on “Real Estate Cycles – An Implication’s to India” was presented at the 13th Asia Real Estate Society (AsRES) International Conference at Shanghai under the aegis of Indu Projects Real Estate Chair at ISB.  Other working papers include “Understanding of Real Estate Regulatory Environment in Mumbai & Hyderabad” and “The Structure of Housing Finance Markets - A comparative study”.  His article on “Affordable Housing: Opportunities in emerging markets” of the ISB Insight has been featured in the Executive Briefing site of the Economist Intelligence Unit.  He has recently featured in an interview in Dinero, one of the leading business magazine in Colombia.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Business Innovation and Research (IJBIR), a leading journal covering new developments in business and entrepreneurship.  He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Indian Business Research (JIBR), a leading reference resource for research on Indian business. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Group on Entrepreneurship Education, World Economic Forum, Global Education Initiative, Davos.

His industry experience covers being President of “Mahindra Hospitality Services” and Management Team of Oberoi Group of Hotels.  He has been a consultant to many organisations both in the U S and India in the areas of entrepreneurship, strategy, product development, market analysis and economic studies. He has been actively involved in promoting new start-ups, both in technology and non-technology areas.  In his last start up he was associated as a Co-Founder for “Esqube Communication Solutions”. 

He is currently a Board Member of “Blink Magic.com”, Advisor to “Cavera Systems” and “Highstreet Capital”.  He is a Member of the Asia Advisory Council of GIMV, Belgium.  He is also an Advisor to “Canadian International School”, Bangalore, India.  He  is also in the Board of Advisors of GIREM, Bangalore.

Dr. Chandrasekar received his doctorate degree from the University of Denver, USA where his thesis was in the area of Innovations and Organizational change.
