The Road Ahead – In search of a new value proposition – Business Technology Club
India today has the unique distinction of being a leading destination for the current international demand for IT and faces the arduous task of paving the way ahead in search of new value propositions in the face of increasing global competition and in search of new frontiers in technology.
Given the context of the summit as the underlying theme, we hope to touch upon the following sub themes to gain a holistic view of the “Road Ahead – In search of new value propositions:”
- Competitive strategies – What does India need to focus on? Indian companies seem to have adopted locally to counter global competition in the Technology sphere. Acquisitions or diversification – which is the way to go? Is this the era of the lean-mean IT organization or is there value yet in becoming a behemoth?
- Skill-Crunch - The leaders of India’s knowledge economy are increasingly facing the challenge of providing a quality driven value proposition. The need to address the shortage of high end skilled workforce is even more relevant in this context. What can be done to tackle this issue?
- Competitive economies -Winds of change are sweeping the IT landscape with low-cost countries like China, Vietnam, Russia, and Ireland eating into the Indian pie. How are Indian companies gearing up to move up the value chain in a bid to combat this threat?
- Business Education- The role of technology-savvy business leaders in shaping the future of the Indian knowledge economy. Is there a tendency towards a utopian portrayal of the best case scenario for the Indian IT industry?
- Global Indian Companies – Perspectives and experiences of Indian firms entering international markets and the evolutionary life cycle of these units. What is the opportunity for entrepreneurial activities within these sub-units?
- Role of Government – Tackling the rising infrastructure problems and the need to invest heavily in the same which in turn necessitates an active role from the Government. What other issues will the IT Sector along with the Indian Government need to look at and address to meet the challenge of moving forward in search of a new value proposition?
