The ISB Graduate Student Board’s flagship event, the ISB Leadership Summit, with the theme, ‘The Changing World Order – India’s Growing Prominence’ was held on December 6, 2008.

The Summit initiated a thought-provoking discussion on how challenges like corruption, poverty, over population and severe income disparities in India balance with the “Changing World Order”. How do these inconsistencies affect the business climate in India? What impact does the much prophesied re-shuffling of the economic power centres in the years to come bear upon the common man? What is the role of India in defining global business? The Summit also endeavoured to prepare the young business leaders of tomorrow to define and chart the path that India must tread, as she marches ahead to fulfil her destiny.

For the first time there were seven different panel discussions, hosted by the participating clubs. The morning session had four panels on Retail, Entrepreneurship, Real Estate and General Management.

The Retail Panel discussed “India's Attractiveness - Underlying forces, Sustainability and Future Trends”. “Business Opportunities in Emerging Markets” was the subject under discussion by the Entrepreneurship Panel. The Real Estate and Infrastructure Panel talked about “Urbanisation in India – Changing Equations”. The General Management Panel held a discussion on “India Inc.: Changing the Managerial Mindset”.

The afternoon session comprised panels on Media, Business Technology, and Energy, Manufacturing and Operations. The Business Technology Panel conferred on the topic, “Think Small: Technology for Emerging Markets”. “Made in India- the Manufacturing Revolution” was the theme of the Energy, Manufacturing and Operations Panel. The Media Panel examined the issue, "From Media to Multi-media - How Democratisation of Content is Changing the Industry".

Some of the speakers at the event were Dr P S Rana, former chairman of HUDCO and current chief of Trikona Development, Prasad Koneru, CEO of Rakindo Developers, Parminder Singh, Business Head, Technology & Media, Google India, Paritosh Joshi, President, Advertising and Distribution, Star India, Anuj Poddar, SVP, Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd, Suhas Tuljapurkar, CEO, Legasis and Sanjeev Rangrass, General Manager – Operations, ITC limited.
