Vision

The Munjal Global Manufacturing Institute at ISB is the premiere independent academic institution for operational excellence and innovation in the manufacturing ecosystem in India and beyond.

Mission

To engender synergistic engagement between industry, academia and the government in India and beyond through:

  1. Thought leadership;
  2. Facilitating knowledge sharing;
  3. Government advocacy; and
  4. Grooming future leaders.
Primary Goals
  1. Academic working paper series & support, conference of international standing with some industry participation.
  2. ISB PhD Programme (Manufacturing); possibly a DBA as well.
  3. Long-term research projects including 2nd supervision, case studies, books & periodicals for business and government.
  4. A knowledge repository enabling sharing and use of information by different stakeholders (industry, government, academia, entrepreneurs).
  5. Index (or indices) on manufacturing health.
  6. Periodic industry/government conferences.
  7. Academic research centre/think-tank comprising academics, policy scholars and industry leaders.
  8. Manufacturing concentration for PGP and specialist masters at ISB with strong support from industry for innovation and entrepreneurship.
  9. Incubation for Manufacturing entrepreneurs.
  10. Executive education: open-enrolment programmes & Executive MBA-like programme for Manufacturing.
  11. Continuing/”Executive” Education with partner institutions (“Jyot-se-Jyot”) and through knowledge repository.
Activities
  1. Participated in:
    • Destination Punjab conference in Amritsar, October 2011
    • CII conference in Hyderabad, August 2011
    • CII cluster conference in Delhi, end September 2011 
  2. Seminar on “Strengthening Manufacturing in India through Defence Offsets” to be held at ISB Hyderabad on December 9-10.
