22.07.2011 Blood Donation Camp
The Net Impact Club at the Indian School of Business (ISB) organized a voluntary blood donation camp in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Hyderabad on July, 22nd 2011. The event was a huge success with 206 volunteers, including students, staff, faculty, spouses and alumni, donating blood. Red Cross will use the collected blood for Thalassemic children, who need regular blood transfusion. Dr. Komal Jagdish, who supervised the camp, was extremely delighted with the turnout.
There were quite a few volunteers donating blood for the first time. Soumya KS, a student of the Post Graduate Programme at ISB, said “I was initially a bit skeptical about donating blood. But seeing the response of the students, I realized this is my best chance to start and made up my mind to donate. I feel really proud of myself and will be a regular blood donor.” One of the key aspects of the event was the doctors’ amicable approach that provided assurance to students (especially first time donors) that donating blood is a safe and smooth process. Moreover, the general enthusiasm of the ISB community and the motivation of the doctors inspired them to donate. This Camp was Net Impact Club’s first initiative on campus for the year 2011.
