Reasons for choosing the ISB? I have three main reasons for choosing the ISB. First, this was the only good International B-school with one year programme. Then I was looking for a B-school located in Asia because of its emergent economy. Finally I wanted to come to India and since the ISB is the best B-school in this country, I decided to join it!
As a Project Manager with IBERDOLA, what made you opt for this Programme and how do you think it will contribute to your career growth? As a Project Manager, I was responsible for developing all the different phases of the projects, pursued by the company. But I wanted to go further and reshape my mindset where I can decide the projects based on the strategy. Only a good B-school would have given me these skills and credibility. The ISB gives enough skills, understanding and opportunities to be an entrepreneur. In addition, the ISB also offers a wide range of openings, in different fields like finance, strategy, marketing, and civil engineering etc, at good positions in various parts of the world.
What are some of the opportunities you are looking forward to? I believe that the opportunities are immeasurable at the ISB. Not only because of the skills or knowledge I can acquire by studying at the ISB but also the number of companies which come on campus for placements. You can find companies from all sectors of the economy. Any of those companies could be a good opportunity to me, depending on their offer.
Besides these companies, I am quite fascinated about the international organisations such as the UN or the WTO, they look for valid people with an MBA, so, why not me?
How has the ISB surprised you? The first thing which impressed me was the dimension of the Campus. I really couldn’t imagine such a huge campus for a B-school.
The ISB facilities are remarkable. I liked the student clubs and the activities we are involved in. Here every minute counts and you have to make the most of it. The assignments, study group meetings, Club meetings…parties!! No time to waste!!
On your peer group This is the most distinctive aspect of the ISB. From the beginning we’re oriented to work in teams of 4 to 5 people, which give the opportunity to improve our skills in teamwork and team building. It is also enables us to learn from the peers (especially because each one of them comes from different backgrounds and therefore have different perspectives).
My team is very strong and united. I like working with them not only because it ensures better work, but also it’s fun.
How would you describe the ISB to a prospective student? The ISB will challenge you in all the possible ways you can imagine. You’ll learn a lot; meet exceptional professors and maybe the most important thing: you’ll make friends for life. You have to be prepared to give the best of you at any time, manage your time...and live the ISB experience. You will start with an awesome “orientation week” followed by the course with all its activities and opportunities. It’s really worth being here so better don’t lose the chance!
