The Course Registration Auction uses a bidding process to effectively allocate seats for the elective courses. It is a competitive process and it cannot guarantee any course to any particular student, no matter how high your bid. Nevertheless, bidding allows you to prioritise your preferences. This prioritisation greatly increases the likelihood of most students getting the courses of their choice.
Unlike student selection systems that rely on GPA, assignments, etc the course auction treats all students equally and impartially. Each student is awarded non-transferable bidding points to use as a currency to ‘purchase’ your preferred courses. The same pool of points is also used while bidding for international exchange programmes. It is your responsibility to select and prioritise the most relevant courses for your situation. Although there can always be exceptions, on an average a student receives over 80% of the courses bid for.
