How do you think the ISB network would benefit you? It is giving me a new perspective, especially in terms of Asian insights. This is very helpful not only if I later work for a firm with businesses in Asia, but also anywhere else, since Indian and Chinese professionals are very much in demand worldwide.
What are some of the electives that you have opted for and why?/ On the learning model/curriculum I have opted for electives in Finance as I have a banking sector background. Through my PaEV course (Planning an Entrepreneurial Venture), I have learnt about the special features to consider when setting up a new firm in India. The plan focussed on consulting services for those European firms, which aim to outsource manufacturing tasks in India.
How about the faculty? The faculty at the ISB are of high quality from the US and Europe. The Post Graduate Programme is a very demanding course. Time constraints make it even tougher.
Could you highlight any incident in the classroom that had an impact on you? Or any case study/ subject that you found particularly interesting? We have a very healthy classroom environment. People are excessively grade driven though and the competitive spirit of the Indians is shocking. However, fair play is always there.
I am very interested in my PaEV project and it is helping me understand how trade occurs between Europe and India and what challenges the firms face.
Some of the initiatives you have taken up at the ISB I am the founding President of the ISB International Club. The club objectives include creating an International perspective amongst ISB students through workshops, speaker sessions and language classes; interacting with International Alumnae; organising all activities with incoming exchange students; and creating awareness about the ISB outside India.
You are from a banking sector, how will this programme benefit your career? The banking sector is going through a slump at the moment and international mobility is a huge advantage since you can explore opportunities wherever they arise. Cultural barriers and regional specific elements are something to be aware of, and my experience at the ISB is fantastic in order to understand these factors better.
