Why the ISB?

The Indian School of Business provides a world-class education within the frontiers of the Indian Territory. It gives an opportunity to learn from internationally acclaimed faculty, a diverse mix of students, a number of professional and social clubs, its association with some of the best schools of the world, and state of the art infrastructure. All of this made me opt for the ISB.

As a research associate, what made you opt for this Programme and how do you think it will contribute to your career growth?
I was a part of the mergers & acquisitions research team at Capital IQ. After a point in time, I realised that my current skill-set, if not upgraded, might smother my future prospects. Moreover, I understood that, for optimal professional growth, developing agile managerial skills is very important. Management, in its broadest sense, encompasses intricacies of finance, strategy, marketing, operations and decision-making. I want to fortify my hold over all nuances of management study, which would make me competent enough of taking strategic decisions.

Indian economy is continuously growing and evolving. I think that all different countries, and their respective economies are intertwined with one another. I wish to understand complexities of how the interdependence among nations can affect the world’s population from the economic standpoint. I trust this course encompass all my requirements and is completely designed to help me grow as an individual.

What are some of the opportunities you are looking forward to?
It has been four months at the ISB and I find a big change in my thought process. It seems as if I am growing as an individual with each passing minute. I am looking forward to learn from this atmosphere which encompasses the best of faculty, best of peer groups, best of corporate networks and above all the global outlook, which I believe is an important aspect in today’s world.

How has the ISB surprised you?
“The ISB is a world-class experience.” The real magnitude of these words can only be felt once you are a part of the system. Besides the faculty, diversity, clubs and infrastructure, which I have already talked about, we receive imminent speakers and guests from all over the world. Learning from them is truly an enriching experience.

On your peer group
The Indian School of Business promised of a peer group which would be diverse in its true sense. The ISB has truly lived up to its word and my expectations. My current batch comprises of 436 students, and every individual has something unique and interesting about themselves. We have students who are rocket scientists, doctors, entrepreneurs, carnatic singers, and an Ex-Indian hockey captain. Learning from this group has truly been an enriching experience.

How would you describe the ISB to a prospective student?
Being a one year programme, it would not be wrong to say that surviving the ISB is quite challenging. The programme here at the ISB is designed to equip one with all the skills essential for the corporate life. Hence, the coursework can be quite demanding. One would be exposed to a wide variety of options which would force you to rethink every step. The ISB provides you with wide opportunities to improve yourself and it is upto you how best you exploit it.
