| Information Technology Management |
The IT concentration is one of the two tracks that students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management can take under the Operations and Information Technology Management (OITM) concentration. The courses you will see in this year's IT track reflect a 360 degree review process that was done by leading IT faculty, taking into account views from alumni, the Business Technology Club, and a subset of recruiters.
IT, ITeS and Mobile companies continue to be the dominant employers of ISB students, accounting for a large portion of the last year’s placement. The new IT track at ISB leverages the excellent technology skills that incoming students have and arms them with a set of electives crafted to broaden their career opportunities into areas at the intersections of IT and Finance, IT and Marketing and IT and Strategy. Following is a non-exhaustive list of job titles that will become accessible to students undertaking the IT track:
• Global business development for IT/ITeS companies • Programme manager at a IT services company • Marketing manager of a large mobile operator • Data driven analytics expert for marketing and finance • Internet and e-commerce product managers for Web 2.0 companies • M-commerce specialist for emerging enterprises • Valuation analyst at a private equity/VC company with a focus on high-tech • IT strategy consultant specializing in smart-sourcing • IT strategy consultant specializing in ROI, business value of IT, and risk management • IT strategy consultant specializing in governance and contracts design • Manager of talent, innovation and value creation of hi-tech business
The IT track is supported by the Centre for IT and the Networked Economy (CITNE) through a variety of industry speakers, panel discussions, and research conferences. In the past year, students have undertaken CITNE sponsored independent study projects for organizations such as Nasscom, in areas such as the emerging spectrum policy for 3G, and towards designing a go-to-market strategy for a Web 2.0 startup.
