What made you decide to do a management programme
After 5 years of academic research in medicinal chemistry and later having worked in the world’s largest bio-tech company as a scientist, the time had come for me to challenge myself in ways that I hadn’t done so far. I was looking for the freedom and credentials to be able to get into the decision making levels of an organization, so that I could help make decisions which will make a larger impact than I could before. While my previous experience and education would mostly restrict me to the pharmaceutical industry, a respected institute like the ISB, I believe, will open doors of opportunity for me in other interesting industries and businesses and will let me spread the wings of my abilities wider. With the Indian economy firing on all cylinders, new opportunities and even whole new industries are getting introduced to the Indian market and therefore the PGP at the ISB became my next logical step in my career progression.

Reasons for selecting the ISB
When I was selecting B-schools, my criteria included quality of instructors, programme design, school’s network with the business world, the brand value and last but not least, the maturity and quality of my peers. Even though there are other eminent schools like IIMs in India and I had the choice to go to a top-10 US B-school, after a lot of thought I found that the ISB meets my needs the best. If I went to Wharton, Cornell, Kellogg, UCLA or IIM, I would have had access mostly to the extraordinary faculty of that one school. But, the ISB, I reasoned, gives me the unique opportunity where I will be trained by the chosen faculty of all the above schools, each a doyen in his/her own field, from all the above mentioned schools and more. Given my intense belief that the next growth phase in the world business will happen in Asia with India as a major player, I want to grow my career in India. I decided that the ISB can give me the brand value, the interaction with Indian and multinational companies and the invaluable learning from the extraordinary student body that it attracts.

Your first impressions of the ISB
When I entered the ISB campus, I was simply awestruck by its grandeur and the natural beauty of its serene surroundings. Each and every facility that anyone can expect is available here. I doubt that any B-school, not just in India but even USA, can exceed the quality and extent of infrastructure available at the ISB. Be it the enormous collection of books, magazines and business journals or the ubiquitous, ultra-high speed, wireless connectivity, the ISB provides each student all the ingredients that he/she may need to get the most out of the one year that a student spends inside the campus without having to worry about the mundane. The staff, more often than not goes out of its way to accommodate the student’s requests and that to with a smile. In summary, I could not have asked for better facilities or infrastructure.

Some of the activities in which you would like to take part in at the School
I will be an active participant in the Healthcare and Consulting Clubs, two of the many active professional clubs. I wish to contribute to the student body by liaising with famous industry personalities and inviting them for the internal speaker series. As an amateur photographer, I look forward to participate and benefit from the Photography Club as well. The Recreation Centre at the ISB is very well equipped with all the modern instruments, a swimming poo,l and other sports facilities. Occasional visits to the Recreation Centre will surely serve as a pressure relieving mechanism from the pressures of the academic year which promises to be very grueling, to say the least.
