Some aspects of the ISB that you think are unique/ exceptional We have an eclectic selection of faculty here at the ISB. You get the best in class in various areas from around the globe. To put it briefly – it’s a pedagogical bliss. The rigor of the programme always keeps you on the move. The richness of the environment, with various social and professional clubs and abundance of elite speakers visiting the campus make it a profound experience and the sheer intensity of academics never lets you slacken. If you want to discover your 100% (or at least close to that), the ISB is the place to be.
Your comments on the learning model at the ISB There is a very strong focus on peer learning at the ISB. You are put through a variety of assignments, case discussions, marketing and production planning simulations in a team. The team dynamics enrich your learning by bringing out varied perspectives. It also sharpens your decision making ability as you are time pressed to reach a quick consensus that exhibits sound logic.
How do you think the ISB will contribute to your career growth? It’s been 4 months at the ISB but it already feels like more than a year in terms of the learning. I and my peers are sometimes amazed at the amount of knowledge that we have been able to assimilate on lesser known topics in such a short span of time. This 1 year of learning and grooming at the ISB will surely go a long way in my life. Further the diverse student community and the excellent career support system at the ISB works wonderfully well in helping one analyse one’s strengths, weaknesses, areas of interests and hence make prudent career choices. Frequent speaker series sessions and workshops by industry leaders also give the students significant exposure to the industry.
As a member of the Arts and Creativity Club, what are some of the opportunities you are looking forward to? The Arts and Creativity Club and the Net Impact Club worked together and organised an event called “Bandhan” on the 15th of August. The club played its role in organising creative activities for underprivileged children from various NGOs in the city. Such a special engagement with children on the day of independence made it a truly memorable day.
One of the faculty/ guests speakers at the ISB who really inspired you It’s really difficult to pick out the absolute best from a selection of best in class faculty members. However I was really inspired by the shear commitment and diligence of Professor Mark Finn from the Kellogg School of Management. His exquisite presentation style strewn with contemporary examples from the industry made sure that the subject (Financial Accounting) was well assimilated by students from all backgrounds. The course, taught in the very first term, laid solid foundations for students to understand accounting information from a management perspective and take up further courses in finance.
