Some aspects of the ISB that you think are unique/ exceptional The ISB is exceptional in terms of its world class visiting faculty, competitive peer group, top of the class infrastructure and committed administration. From the day one you get a feel that you are in an Institute which aspires to be the best in the world. The ISB is a global School which provides me with a global view. The ISB has made me feel that ‘World is indeed a small place’.
Your comments on the learning model at the ISB The learning model at the ISB is finely balanced between the case and the textbook analysis. The case analysis helps us to extend our learning from the past experience, while the textbook analysis puts our knowledge in a disciplined framework and transforms it into a powerful management tool.
As a scientist, what made you opt for a management degree and how do you think the ISB will contribute to your career growth as a scientist? Management & Science don’t go well, especially so in India. During my four years as Defence Scientist I felt that there is a missing link in the development of sustainable R&D base in India. This missing link I perceived is the lack of professional technology managers; people who understand Science and who understand Management. I am sure the ISB will give me necessary skills and knowledge to fill this missing link.
As a member of the General Management Club, what are some of the opportunities you are looking forward to? As a member of the General Management Club I am actively participating in the ‘internal skill building’. My focus here is to help the club members (including myself) develop mature industry perspectives.
One of the faculty/ guests speakers at the ISB who really inspired you I think every single faculty who has come to teach me at the ISB was outstanding.
