Reasons for selecting ISB
The primary reason for selecting ISB was to stay in India. I believe that Asia will lead the world economy in the next decade. So, what better than to do an MBA from ISB and stay close to the real action. In addition, the world class campus and faculty was an added attraction.

On ISB’s learning model
To begin with, the case study approach was a bit tough to handle. However, after the initial two cases, things settle down and one gets into the groove. Case studies help you develop a perspective about real life issues. The concept of study groups is also quite useful. You get a chance to work with people with different backgrounds, different skill-sets. After all, this is what you get in the real world. Professional Clubs at ISB provide an opportunity to students desirous of a career in a particular domain to stay abreast of the market developments and interact with like-minded students.

On the faculty
Professors have a good command on their subjects and are open to intuitive questions by students. This facet is very important to develop argumentative skills. Also, visiting professors provide a first-hand view of similar instances in their countries which gives a broader framework to understand and challenge concepts. The quality of class notes is quite outstanding.

On leadership skills acquired at ISB
By virtue of heading the Investment Banking focus group at ISB, I have got an opportunity to work with students desirous of a career in Finance. I have also conducted interactive knowledge building sessions for perspective development. Personally this has provided me with the confidence to conduct meetings, improve my presentation style and motivate my peers

On the infrastructure and other resources at ISB
There are no doubts that ISB has one of the best libraries. It’s simply awesome and the collection of books is mind-boggling. But the only thing is that one does not get enough time to utilise such a rich knowledge bank. Campus is brilliant with lots of fresh air and state-of-the-art architecture; recreational facilities are decent but can be improved further. For example: we can do well with better football and cricket fields.

On your peer groups
Of course, that’s the biggest advantage of coming to ISB. You get to interact with people from diverse backgrounds who have achieved something substantial in life. Where on earth would you have got an opportunity to interact on business issues with doctors and defense forces personnel? It gives you a great perspective.

How this programme will benefit your career
That’s a tough question!!!! On a more serious note, I believe that Brand ISB is now globally recognised and is at par with any high class US B-school. Given my background, both academic and professional, I intent to leverage on this brand and possibly escalate to the next level of investment banking. ISB will also allow me to interact with many people from the industry and that gives me a wider array of option to strategise my career. You never know when Lady Luck might smile and what you end up with!!!!

To summarize, ISB will allow me to become a better professional, hopefully one who commands respect and has integrity.
