Reminiscing Placement Time
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the ISB, Placements time spells anxiety unparalleled. While the focus has always been on the students who undergo the trial and the toil, the spouses of these students also share the same, or more apprehensions, and finally take part in the euphoria of getting a good offer. The spouses on the campus are an epitome of courage, patience and solidarity during the hectic Placement days – putting aside their own comforts, and constantly recharging the enthusiasms of their better halves.

Student spouse, Pallavi Dutt remarked, “The placement time at the ISB was an amazing experience altogether. Although at times it was unnerving too!! It had its moments of anxiety but one thing which really stood out was that everyone was there for each other in this hour of need and boosting each others’ morale and this is the sole reason why it culminated on a very happy note. I think the true meaning of ISB was captured at this time -Strength in Diversity!”

The placements had spouse volunteers pouring in. They were seen all around the campus aiding to make Placements a seamless affair. “I was bracing for the most horrendous week on campus as a spouse. But right from the start my fears were alleviated. The placement volunteers, professional councillors and informal groups were constantly scouting the campus looking for troubled students and spouses providing guidance, reassurance and constant help. People’s egos were overshadowed by their will to help everyone get the best they could and achieve the bigger goal as a community,” recalls spouse Nidhi Sharma.

Spouse Swati Arora regards this time as a time to reinforce the ‘ISB community feel’. “The ISB placement is a platform to achieve aspirations and dream jobs. Staff members, students and not to forget, spouses play an important role in this event by volunteering in the process. Spouses have supported their husbands in tough times when there were very selective offers on first two days. Overall, I believe that we all have got our dreams fulfilled.”

Shalu Gulliani shares some tiring times during this Placements, “Placements this year have been successful but was a very exhausting experience for students as well as the spouses. The unity and empathy among the students made it a success. As an outsider, I would attribute the success of the placements solely to the students. The way the students who got placed took care of those who hadn’t was quite admirable.”

Placements have also been a great example of camaraderie at the ISB. Shrishti Bagaria adds, “There was not a single party on campus till the majority of the class got placed and all those who got placed went early next morning to volunteer and help the remaining people.”
Indeed Placements 2008 saw the ISB core values being displayed –caring, collaborating and energising.
