Infrastructure

India’s strong economic growth in the recent years has led to rapid expansion of industry and commerce which has significantly increased the demand for infrastructure services. As per the 12th five-year plan, the investments in the infrastructure sector will be close to 10% of GDP. Investments within the sector can be broadly classified into infrastructure construction investments i.e., roads, urban infrastructure, power, irrigation and railways; industrial or core construction investments i.e., steel plants, oil pipelines and refineries; and real estate construction investments i.e., residential and commercial construction.

The Real Estate industry is one of the fastest growing industries in India with an estimated market size of USD12 million and an annual growth rate of 30%. Factors such as the changing demographics, increasing affluence, large segments of population becoming economically active, increasing urbanisation, rise of nuclear families, and the desire to own rather than rent a house, are the key drivers that are shaping up the demand in the real estate sector.
