Smt Daggubati Purandareswari is the Minister of State for Higher Education. Smt Purandareswari is B.A. (Literature) and Graduate in Gemology Educated at South Indian Educational Trust and Women College (Chennai) and Gemological Institute of India. In 2004, she was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha. She has served as the Member, Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution. She has also been Member of Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice Committee. She is a keen political and social worker.

Dileep Ranjekar, the Chief Executive Officer of Azim Premji Foundation, is a science Graduate and has a Post Graduate Diploma of Business Management as well as Master’s degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He was appointed from campus by Wipro and became the Corporate Executive Vice President Human Resources.

Dileep provided leadership to the various innovative people practices in Wipro Corporation. During his leadership, Wipro was assessed world’s first PCMM (People Capability Maturity Model) Level 5 organization by the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie-Melon University.

When Azim Premji decided to launch initiative to make tangible impact on key social issues especially through Universalization of Elementary Education, Dileep was an integral part of the initiative right from its conception. Azim Premji Foundation has a vision to “significantly contribute to achieve quality universal education that facilitates a just, equitable and humane society” and the Foundation is operational since 2001.

The Foundation is focused on contributing to systemic changes such as building accountability for quality education by demonstrating that comprehensive quality education can be achieved in rural Government schools. The Foundation believes that technology can play a significant role in quality education by providing alternative pedagogy as well as by building capacity among the components of education delivery system.

The Foundation has over 250 professionals and several hundred volunteers working towards realizing its vision through the Foundation’s current engagement with over 16,000 schools across 16 Indian states.


Professor A K Shiva Kumar is a development economist. In addition to serving as an advisor to UNICEF - India, he is a member of India's National Advisory Council. Professor Kumar earned his postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and his M A in Economics from Bangalore University. He also holds a master's degree in public administration and a Ph D in political economy and government from Harvard University. He teaches economics and public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and is a visiting professor at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. He has focused his research on poverty and human development, social sector analysis, and the impact of development policies on children and women. He has been a regular contributor to UNDP's Annual Human Development Reports. He has been associated with the preparation of national human development reports in a number of countries including Bhutan, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Serbia.

Jeroninio (Jerry) Almeida is the Founder and Chief Volunteer of iCONGO, Indian Confederation of NGOs.  Right from his college days, Jerry has been a volunteer to plan and implement ideas, projects, and events for fundraising and sensitising people through mainstream formats about their social responsibility and thus bridging the gap between people and communities who deserve attention and support. He is one of the pioneers to use entertainment formats like movies, music albums, videos, TV serials, events, and out-of-the-box ideas through cause related marketing to mainstream the cause and sensitise people about social issues including the popular Page 3 campaign with The Times Foundation. Through iCONGO with SNS Foundation (CSR initiative of the Anand automotive group) and funding from USAID he has also conceptualised and incubated ITEAM (Institutionalized training, employment and advancement of marginalised) - virtual institutes and hubs to train youth based on the process and criteria of industry with assured employment.


Professor V N Rajasekharan Pillai has been at the helm of affairs of many higher education institutions during his career spanning over 35 years. He joined IGNOU on October 21, 2006 as its sixth Vice- Chancellor. His experiences and contributions to the field of science and educational administration are rich and varied. He has served as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, New Delhi, served as the Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, Vice-Chancellor of the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Founder-Director of the School of Chemical Sciences, Dean of Faculty of Science, Controller of Examinations, Director of College Development Council, Founder-Director of the School of Professional Distance Education and Chief, Employment and Information Guidance Bureau of the Mahatma Gandhi University.  He is a Fellow of the prestigious Indian Academy of Sciences and an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. Dr Rajasekharan Pillai has 32 years of teaching, research, research guidance and administrative experience in the Universities of Kerala, Calicut, Cochin, and Mahatma Gandhi University.


Manish Sabharwal, a Wharton graduate and a serial entrepreneur,
created two successful companies – first, in 1996, he co-founded India Life (a HR outsourcing company) that was acquired by Hewitt associates in 2003, and then in 2002, he co-founded TeamLease Services the largest temporary staffing company in India. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of TeamLease, which is on its way to becoming India’s largest private employer. He is also a member of CII's labour reforms committee.


Dilip Thakore is the Publisher/Editor of Education World, India. The Bangalore-based Publisher & Editor is a former Barrister of the Mumbai High Court. He was the founder-editor of Business India (1977-80), founder-editor of Business World (1981-1987), Editor of Debonair (1988-89), founder-director of a direct marketing business Datamatics Direct (1989-97).

Ralston Sequeira: He has spent the past five years in the advertising and communications industry with leading firms like Lowe and JWT. His experience spans branding and communication strategy development for several large brands like Reliance ADA group, Hindustan Petroleum, DeBeers, Shaw Wallace, Oberoi Hotels and many more along with new business development projects. A graduate of Economics from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, Ralston is currently a PGP student at the Indian School of Business.

The Naandi Foundation is an autonomous, public trust based out of Hyderabad that works together with governments, corporate houses, and society to improve the lives of the underprivileged in Andhra Pradesh. Naandi Foundation works for the eradication of poverty from India by working directly with the communities at the grassroots in the areas of Education, Health and Livelihood- which, when inaccessible, are main causes of Poverty. MV Foundation

MV Foundation is an organisation working for the education of children with a strong conviction that all children from 5-14 years should be in school and that none of them should be working as a child labourer.
