Entrepreneurs find it daunting to raise capital. Finding and securing start-up and growth stage capital takes careful research, good negotiating skills, and an unflagging commitment to launch and grow your business. Diffusion

“Diffusion 2011” – the capacity-building workshop for non-profits, organised in Patna on October 3-4, 2011 was a very well-received event.  The workshop was organised by the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (WCED), the ISB Chapter of the Net Impact Club, and the Central University of Bihar (CUB) for training non-profit organisations in basic business and management skills. 38 participants from senior and middle-management levels of various NGOs, a funding organisation, as well as students and faculty from various educational institutions, attended the workshop where they were exposed to some of the best management practices that they can leverage upon to build scale and efficiency in their organisations. The workshop was a blend of case studies, lectures, and panel discussions.

While “Diffusion” workshops have been a regular event at the ISB, this was the first event in Patna, the state capital of Bihar. Bihar, owing to its sheer geographical size and large population of Indian citizens below 25 years of age, will play a crucial role in the country’s overall development. Bihar has recently emerged as one of the centres of growth in India, and is witnessing major activity and support from the non-government agencies. However, given the magnitude of the current and anticipated challenges, there is a need for non-profits to re-examine their working context, and adopt innovative models and entrepreneurial approaches. This was the rationale to conduct “Diffusion 2011”in Patna.
