Visiting Assistant Professor and Senior Research Fellow Sachin Garg is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Public Policy and a  Senior Research Fellow at ISB's Bharti Institute of Public Policy. His broader research interests lie at the juncture of technology and public policy, particularly the role public policies play in defning how technology is used for sustainable human development.

His doctoral work in Public Policy at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government has looked at the duality of “big data for policy” and “policy for big data”. With the rapid rise of digital technologies, new data sources have emerged that can be combined to create rich big data. This big data can be “mined” to get insights and evidence for  public policy making and analysis which was not possible earlier. However, as all data creation is circumscribed by the policy environment, we also need to have “policies for big data” that can help in using “big data for policy”.

Prior to joining the doctoral programme, he worked as a technologist for more than 15 years in the Information Technology sector, with various organisations like HP, Wipro and Yahoo!
