New CEE Calendar Brochure, 2009-10

Watch out for the all new CEE open enrolment calendar. Developed after studying the trends and industry requirements, the calendar for FY 09 -10 has 45 programmes in it. Of these, over 30 percent of the programmes are brand new. Specific programmes have been introduced for managing during turbulent times and for industry verticals like financial services and professional services firms. Scheduled for its release by end of January 2009, this calendar spans across all the disciplines of management – corporate governance, family business, finance, general management, IT and operations, leadership, marketing, OB/HR and strategy.

LIC Chairman Shares Insights

During a CEE custom designed programme was present, TS Vijayan, Chairman of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). In an interaction Vijayan said that an impeccable track record of customer service, trust and security has been LIC’s fountainhead and stimulus for growth. All drive and strategies at LIC, he shared, evolved and revolved around customers.

Even during the current financial crisis, LIC, he said, has been a judicious investor, aiming at steady and profitable growth. “Our biggest challenge will be to minimise the impact of fluctuations on investment of policyholders. Moreover, we have the best risk management practices which will help us overcome the negative impacts of volatility,” he said. He also talked about human resource at LIC, the diverse talent pool, and the in-house talent that keeps LIC standing tall even with advent of the multinationals in this competitive era.
 
Inside a Classroom of Women Entrepreneurs

The first batch of the CEE-Goldman Sachs sponsored ‘1000 Women Initiative’ programme commenced at the ISB. Thirty odd women, all entrepreneurs, engaged in small and medium sized business, were at the ISB to take part in this certificate programme. Their profile was a mosaic of confectionary maker, marketers of flowers, apparel designers, chocolate makers, preparatory school owners etc. During the programme the class was engaged in learning about trends in economic and competitive environment, about how to manage finance and accounting, how to overcome gender specific challenges, on methods to acquire and retain customers, and how best to balance family and business lives.

The programme helped many to meet challenges of limited competition, to efficiently mange labour, learn about strategy, marketing methods, about basic accounting principle, and acquire an understanding about business cycles. All the participants will soon come back for the second cycle of the programme.
 
New Campus at Mohali

The ISB has been as invited to set up another world class educational institution, in the lines of ISB Hyderabad, at Knowledge city Mohali. By the year 2012, the second campus of the ISB will begin its first academic session. 70 acres of land has been allotted to the ISB by the Government of Punjab, on a 99 years lease, at a nominal rate of Rs 1 per acre annually, as part of its vision to create a premiere management institute in the state of Punjab.

ISB Mohali will have the characteristic ISB value – world class faculty, enterprising students, academic affiliations, state-of-the art facilities and industry partnerships. It plans to provide the flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management and short duration Executive Education Programmes. The ISB faculty will be available for teaching on both campuses and all standards and processes will be common across both campuses The Mohali campus will also have four Centres of Excellence for promoting research and offering additional specialisations in the Post Graduate Programme in the areas of Healthcare Management, Public Policy, Manufacturing and Operation Excellence, and Physical Infrastructure Management
 
ISB-CEE joins UNICON

The CEE at the ISB has recently joined the International University Consortium for Executive Education (UNICON). The UNICON is an organisation of leading business schools with a commitment to management, executive education and development. Through UNICON, more than ninety member educational institutions focus on the theory and delivery of executive education. Founded in 1972 as an association of executive education programme directors, UNICON has evolved from an informal common-interest group to an incorporated non-profit organization committed to advance the field of university-sponsored executive education.

The ISB joins the prestigious league of the UNICON along with, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and the University of Alberta School of Business, Alberta, Canada.
