Dear Friends,
Greetings!
In a bid to bridge the rigour-relevance gap in executive
education, this issue of CEE Emerge
brings perspective from the academic desk, as well as
from the management turf.
Professor Kerry Vandell talks about the need for
innovative thinking and leadership in the Realty sector.
Daniel N McGrath of IBM, talks about an issue-driven,
integrated team approach which emphasises on
collaboration and teamwork. Dan is the developer and
leader of IBM’s highly rated Strategic Leadership Forum,
where learning is based on strategy development and
execution.
The launch of the CEE Alum Chapter at Hyderabad
was an opportunity for camaraderie and networking. We
will keep you posted about the other Chapter meets
that have been organised throughout the year.
Read on, and do share feedback.
Best Wishes
Deepak Chandra

First CEE Alumni Meet
of Hyderabad Chapter Celebrated
An intimate gathering of CEE Alumni met at
the ISB to host the first Alumni Chapter at
Hyderabad. Present at the occasion, among
the distinguished alumni, were Dean of ISB
Professor M Rammohan Rao and Deepak Chandra,
Associate Dean, CEE.
Dean Rao in his address urged the alumni to
take initiatives like adopting tier 2
management schools and offer their expertise
to these institutions. “You can also play
a
vital role in strengthening the CEE and its
activities, he added. He mentioned about CEE’s leadership role in providing executive
education – “the largest provider of
executive education in India, and one among
the largest in Asia”. In the future the CEE
at the ISB will continue to bring world
class faculty and focus on knowledge
dissemination, Dean Rao assured.
The purpose of creating four chapters of the
CEE alumni, at Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and
Bangalore, was illustrated by Deepak Chandra
– “to elect office bearers, to arrange for a
meeting of all the office bearers from the
four chapters, and overall leverage the
alumni network and create more energy”.
Possible areas of working together were
highlighted by him - one being that alumni
can propose to be mentors.
As the evening proceeded, alumni Pradeep
Dhobale, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC
Limited, was unanimously elected as
President of the CEE Alumni Association,
Hyderabad Chapter. Alumni Dr A Goutam, CEO,
SmarTeach, was chosen as secretary.

President of the CEE Alumni Association, Hyderabad Chapter
“With utmost humility I accept the
position of Presidentship of the CEE Alumni
Association, Hyderabad Chapter. The
initiatives to be taken up by the
Association will be decided, in consultation
with the members, after a workshop which the CEE is planning to conduct for the office
bearers of all the four Chapters some time
in early September. To my mind, the idea is
to bring academics and industry closer
together for effective contribution to
nation building. The initial ideas are in
terms of adopting tier-2 management schools,
mentoring of young entrepreneurs, and
dissemination of knowledge.
Leadership and skill development are
identified as top requirements if India has
to continue with its close to double digit
growth. The 7000 plus Alumni of the CEE at
the ISB represent a powerful community with
resources at their disposal who can
contribute to
the
aforementioned cause. The
Alumni forum will provide a network and
platform toapproach
the noble cause in a
structured manner.”
-Pradeep Dhobale, Divisional Chief
Executive, ITC Limited
Secretary of the CEE Alumni Association, Hyderabad Chapter
“I attended a CEE programme on Global
Growth Entrepreneurship. The programme
helped me immensely to evolve strategies for
my organisation, and position them for
global business and growth.
I am of the feeling that if all the Chapters
come together and put up some common
initiatives, only then will the whole
concept have impetus and bearing. I am
therefore looking forward for the upcoming
All Alum Chapter Meet."
