Energy and Sustainability Conference

Welcome to the Bharti Institute’s 2014 Annual Conference!

The theme of this year’s Conference is Energy and Sustainability and was organized in collaboration with the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) at ISB’s Mohali Campus. The conference brought together academicians, participants from the central and state administrations as well as industry to discuss various facets of Energy Policy in India. The discussions were aimed to specifically address the twin challenges of development and sustainability. The conference focussed on issues under the ambit of public policy and management like business strategy to ensure effectiveness of central/state energy policies. The aim of the conference was to discuss policy changes to address crucial issues such as renewable energy financing.
The Bharti Institute of Public Policy was set up as a Centre of Excellence in Public Policy at ISB’s Mohali campus in 2012, in partnership with the Fletcher School at Tufts University. The Bharti Institute’s mission is to create top-quality education and research relevant for policy management; train and develop leaders in formulation and execution of policy through world-class programmes; and engage with stakeholders to affect public policy.
Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is a team of analysts and advisors that works to improve the most important energy and land use policies around the world, with a particular focus on finance.
The conference was held on March 15,2014 with three sessions plus a keynote speech. The sessions were on the following topics:
  1. The twin challenges of development and sustainability;
  2. Financing of renewable energy;
  3. Market based policies.
