Thomas Schmidheiny Chair of Family Business and Wealth Management

Collobarative Initiatives

Academic Collaborations
Since its inception in 2007-08, the Chair has added more research faculty through increased collaborations. More faculty members have been motivated to join the research team, which now has Professors Raveendra Chittoor and S Ramnarayan as members from the Indian School of Business (ISB). Besides, Professor Sougata Ray of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and Professor Ajay Bhalla, Cass Business School, London have joined as major research collaborators.

Similarly, the Chair has developed links with several academic institutions across the world; Professor K Ramachandran has been working closely with Professor John Ward of the Kellogg School of Management since 2003. While this relationship is constantly strengthened, we have simultaneously built up collaborative work with the Babson College, USA through the global project “Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP).” Two other strong links developed are with Professor Thomas Zellweger, Center for Family Business, University of St. Gallen and Professor Pramodita Sharma, Concordia University, who are both major researchers internationally. Besides, a very good relationship has been developed with the faculty on family business at the Bond University (Australia), HongKong University of Science and Technology, The Chinese University of HongKong (both HK), Cass Business School (UK) and the Witten Institute for Family Business (Germany).

Institutional Associations
The Chair continues to involve itself in activities with a number of organisations as part of its efforts to achieve its vision and mission. Professor Ramachandran delivered a number of lectures at several programmes organised by the Chair, including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and specific industry associations. The Chair also advises the CII on its publications related to family business. In addition, Professor Ramachandran has been associated with the annual global summits of the Family Business Network (FBN) International since 2007, in different capacities.
