Application Procedure
General requirements
The ISB aims to bring together people from a wide variety of backgrounds, nationalities, education and experience. The common denominators are superior academic credentials and display of consistent intellectual prowess. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. To be eligible, candidates must hold a university degree from an accredited academic institution. Above all, candidates need to possess both the ability to engage in high-quality research and the commitment to be an academician at an international level. Candidates will be assessed on the basis of outstanding intellectual ability, motivation, faculty recommendations, and personal characteristics required for an international academic career. There is no particular requirement concerning fields of study at the undergraduate level, but standard post-graduate entry tests (GMAT and GRE) will be used to assess general ability and, if necessary, level of English.
Application procedure
The deadline for the application would be January 15, 2012 for the academic year starting in September 2012. An interview may subsequently be requested. Candidates would be advised of admissions decisions by March 31, 2012 and the programme will begin in September. All applications should be submitted online at http://fpm.isb.edu/User/. A complete application must include:
- The application form (including a statement of purpose and photograph)
- Certified copies of all university degrees / diplomas
- Official transcripts of grades
- GMAT or GRE score report.
- TOEFL score report (For applicants whose language of instruction at the undergraduate level is not English)
- Three letters of recommendation from faculty or scholars on the applicant’s academic ability and potential for research and teaching
- A small application fee (INR 3000) to cover administrative costs.
Test requirements
All applicants are required to take one of two tests: either the Graduate Record Examination General Test (GRE), administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), Princeton, USA; or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), administered by Pearson VUE, Boomington, USA. Both tests may be taken at various locations around the world. Applications will not be considered without a test score.
