About FPM
The Indian School of Business is embarking upon a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) to groom promising young researchers to be innovative problem solvers and thinkers. The Programme is for four or five years’ duration, at the end of which the students qualify for faculty positions in top business schools around the world. The programme is fully funded and students stand to benefit from the research strengths of the ISB faculty, engaged as they are in cutting edge research that is both academically rigorous as well as highly relevant to the needs of business.
The FPM at ISB was started by incorporating best practices, skills, knowledge and inputs from INSEAD, a global business school with an established track record of generating and disseminating research of the highest quality. This will help ISB design and deliver a truly exceptional FPM.
A career in Business Academia
The best business schools achieve their standing by combining research, teaching and management practice. The best teachers among business school faculty members are usually those who bring the latest management theory and technique to life in the classroom. There is, however, a severe shortage globally of trained and talented faculty. With business activity shifting more towards emerging markets, there is also a shortage of faculty focusing on research issues relevant to emerging economies.
The FPM curriculum aims to achieve a balance between the latest academic research and an understanding of local realities in the emerging economies of the world. It will be reviewed and upgraded every year for theoretical rigour and practical relevance, in consultation with associate schools. Promising young researchers with inquisitive, creative and inspired minds and a dedication to exploring research issues in business, will find this Programme attractive.
The ISB FPM Edge
Challenging, comprehensive and global in scope, the Programme aspires to develop researchers and academicians par excellence. The ISB faculty members’ own research expertise and their strong belief in supporting and mentoring FPM students is what will make this happen.
The ISB boasts of a unique portfolio faculty model which consists of world-class resident and visiting faculty. Resident and visiting professors hold doctorates and are much sought after by businesses across the world. The current body of 42 permanent faculty has been handpicked from leading international business schools on the basis of research expertise and teaching acumen. Visiting faculty drawn from top business schools across the world complement the expertise of our resident faculty. The school provides a vibrant research environment for, and benefits from, the visiting scholars and research scholars it hosts every year.
The area leaders from our founding associate schools, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, participate actively in curriculum design and research conferences and help in recruiting the best faculty. Our other partnerships include those with the London Business School, Sloan School of Management at MIT, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Our association with world-class business schools ensures that we are always in step with the latest innovations in global management education. Faculty exchanges, research collaborations, student exchange and curriculum development are various dimensions of our relationship with these schools.
AACSB Accreditation

The ISB is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and is the first business school in South Asia to be recognised by this premier global body. This acknowledgement by the oldest and longest serving global accrediting body for business schools puts ISB in an exclusive league of the world's best business schools.
Achieving AACSB accreditation involves a process of rigorous internal review, evaluation, and adjustment. It necessitates meeting AACSB’s exacting standards for a high quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of businesses. The AACSB accreditation has been earned by less than 5% of the world's business schools. The accreditation reflects ISB’s position as a pivotal player which will shape tomorrow’s global management education landscape.
