Results at the ISB keep getting upgraded regularly,
so during the middle of the year I kind of knew that I
had a fair chance to top. Though I never really aimed to
top- one shouldn’t aim for such a thing- if it happens-
great.
My Game Plan
I dispersed all my efforts throughout the year rather
than jamming it up for the day before the paper. It is a
process of constant preparation rather than a
concentrated one. It is just discipline I guess.
I am taking back from ISB the Killer Instinct
I am taking back a lot of confidence. Ten years from
now when I look back, ISB is going to be a turning point
in my career. The opportunities one gets here, for
example the Citibank Scholarship that I received, the
networking that one maintains while here, takes you to
different level all together. It gets you ready for the
real world. Yes, ISB gave me the killer instinct.
The Road Ahead
A small well deserved break and then I am joining
McKinsey &Co.
Dr Suneet Gupta I consider myself average
It was not a competition per se, I just tried to do
my best
I try to grasp the basic fundamental and do not
experiment with the esoteric as I consider myself to
be an average human being.
I did not come here for a job
My year at ISB has been memorable. I did not come
here to get a good job or to make a career move. I
came here enjoy and discover myself. ISB has given
me a totally different outlook to life. The ISB edge
is like a double edged sword, both ways it benefits
me- First the knowledge and the tools that I have
acquired here and second the whole experience which
is exhilarating. It has changed my perspective
altogether.
I will miss the ISB ambience the total experience of
being among these corridors.
Doctors in B Schools
I am a doctor and have served the Indian Air Force
for five years. Then I was associated with a
research fir and got a taste of the corporate world.
Doctors joining B Schools is no more a rare trend.
In India we make a career decision very early in
life, when we are just about 17 or 18 years of age.
Later we realise that maybe we need more than being
just engineers or doctors. B Schools are no more the
preserve of technical people- Doctors are as
intelligent you see!
