ISB Students make winning a habit
Team ISB, comprising of Rohan Rijhwani, Rutvik Pawgi, Rishik Ghosh, Sonal Minhas, Jadgeep Singh and Sharad Mittal, won the prestigious ‘Swissknife’ title at the annual IIM C festival, Intaglio, winning a cash prize of 2.75 lakhs – the highest earned by an ISB Team ever, at a B-School competition this year.
At Intaglio itself, another ISB team, comprising of Anshuman Das, Aashish Midha and Enakshi Chatterjee, won the second prize at ‘i2i, 2006’ – a prestigious B-plan Competition. The ISB idea of Tazaar (Talent Bazaar)-a plan to build an online community of animation enthusiasts, based on internet collaborative model- was well appreciated for its innovativeness.
At a flagship event held at IIM Kozhikode, ISB team comprising of Sindhu Shanmugam, Ali Potia, Megh Kalyanasundaram and Pranav Saraiya, presented a roll out plan to a distinguished panel of judges. This strategy presentation event saw 300 plans from across top management institutions of India, who evaluated the current economic outlook and identified sectors and strategies for inclusive growth. The top ten plans were hand-picked for the Finals, on parameters of objectivity and sustainability. Team ISB’s plan ‘Project Maurya’ was recommended to the Prime Minister’s Office, as the ‘Best Plan for Rural India’.
BCG Co-Chairman visits ISB
Carl Stern, Co-Chairman of the Board, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), during his visit to the ISB, shared consultancy and leadership tips with the students and faculty. He recalled BCG’s experience with clients and advised students, who wanted to opt for consultancy as a career, about the pros and cons in the consultancy domain. Stern held discussions with Dean MR Rao and Deputy Dean Ajit Rangnekar
Team ISB among top ten at Darden Innovation Challenge
For the second year running, Team ISB qualified as the only team fromAsia at the Finals of

Innovation Challenge 2006, hosted by the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. ISBians Amit Sawhney, Dipti Rao, Rohan Nag, Shivanand Sinha, and Tarun Sainanee, competed against 440 teams from 88 universities spanning 15 countries, and were placed among the top 10 teams. The ISB team put up a great show and was well appreciated by the judges. “Presented with humour, excellent consumer insight, immersive and focused on local flavour prioritization”- were some comments made by the judges.
Solstice 2007 – A time to recall
The Fifth Year Reunion at the ISB, Solstice 2007, held special significance this year, as it was organised in conjunction with alums from the founding batch. Present students noted that the event was more than a reunion, it was a reconnect. Assistant Dean, Savita Mahajan, mentioned that the role of an alum was very significant in the growth of ISB.
The programme comprised of the announcement of the ISB Alumni Association photography competition results by celebrity photographer and competition judge, Avinash Gowarikar. An Alumni Speaker Series on the topic ‘View from the top’, a tree plantation ceremony and a football match with the alums were other high points of this event.
Students present winning B-Plans to Mukesh Ambani
Two winning teams of the ISB Business Plan Competition 2006-07, presented their business plans to Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited.
The first team comprised, Divya Gupta, Sachin Vij, Nikhil Gilani and Sanket Maheshwari. Their innovative plan was titled ‘Cricket Unlimited’. The second project ‘Swacch Jaldhara’ boasted of team members Sandeep Sehgal, Sujay Kalele, Ruchi Kalra, and Nupur Govil. “You have identified the right opportunities, which are going to create significant value over the next 10 to 15 years,” said Mr Ambani.
