Net Impact Careers fills in the void of matching the need of high quality managerial skills required in the social sector with talent and interests of students at THE ISB. Needless to say, ISB represents a very diverse student body with interesting backgrounds wherein a significant number of students have already worked in the social sector space.
In line with the increased focus on careers this year, Net Impact has two teams. The International Careers Team deals with organisations that have international operations while the National Careers Team deals with organisations that work exclusively in India. The purpose of this is to align the different placement needs and expectations of the organisations more effectively.
We have identified the following broad verticals for student placements:
- Environmental Sustainability
- Development (this includes programme management, logistics and supply chain management and finance among others)
- Social Consulting
- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Others (this includes Micro-Insurance, Social Entrepreneurship and other sub sectors)

Our emphasis is on increasing interaction, building relations and identifying ways of working together with various corporations and agencies in the above listed verticals. Numerous events and programmes such as Speaker Sessions, Shadow a CEO, Shadow an Alumni, Board Fellows, I-Diya and the annual Net Impact Conclave have been organised in order to facilitate interaction between potential recruiters and students throughout the year. This will also allow organisations to share their work and the various roles that they have to offer with the student body.
The international placements begin in October and take place on a rolling basis, while domestic placements begin in January.
NI Careers augments the existing student interest by educating the student community about various career options that are available in the social sector. This will help align students’ interest with the organisation’s work and goals. The NI Education Series begins in September and runs for approximately two months, during which one vertical is highlighted each week and related education events and soft training material is circulated. The NI Education Series then helps prepare candidates for the recruitment process.
