Experiential Learning Programme (ELP)
The Experiential Learning Programme allows student teams to work with industry on real-world business issues, giving them the chance to apply the learning outside the classroom setting and gain new perspective on business and more.
"The ELP is a hands-on tool to apply management concepts from class to real industry situations. Career switchers should definitely consider this to get a better understanding of new industries and to convince recruiters of their genuine interest in that industry."

ELP projects enable students to integrate the learnt concepts in the core terms and to apply the skills of consulting in developing industry specific expertise. Teams of 4-5 students advise companies on strategic issues across 16 weeks. With guidance from a faculty advisor, PGP – Project director, and a corporate liaison, the student teams create a unique recommendation to fulfill the organizational need. Many companies use this programme as their pre-recruitment exercise as well.

As a part of the curriculum, up to 250 ISB students may opt to work on such live projects. The student teams conclude the project by providing recommendation and presenting their finding to the company’s management. This is a credit course and the students take this very seriously.

The programme has generated tremendous response, including many projects which directly impact the bottom line. Last year, we had 70 projects covering the whole spectrum of the business – from manufacturing, technology, consumer products, financial services, development sector, and the Governments. Areas of study included market positioning and entry strategies, new product development, developing growth strategies, talent management strategies etc

Further information about how to approach companies, form teams, and the final selection process will be presented at a special info session for students during Term 1.

Student feedback on the ELP:

“ELP helped me realise the market reality!”

“I spent over 20 minutes of my interview with Goldman Sachs discussing my student project. It really gave me something relevant to talk about.”

“Every company that interviewed me wanted to know about my student project. Trying to switch careers with my IT background,  the ELP helped me differentiate myself from other students.”
