ISB – POMS Workshop 2015

The 3rd ISB – POMS workshop is aimed at showcasing cutting edge academic research in the area of Socially Responsible Operations and Supply Chains.

Topics: The workshop will focus on diverse yet related topics such as sustainability, healthcare delivery, public transport, agriculture and food supply chains, non-profit operations, work that is motivated by problems in developing and underdeveloped economies, uses datasets from these settings and/or has policy implications for these contexts. However, these attributes are not necessary for submission. All methodologies (analytical modeling, empirical modeling, experiments) are welcome and the emphasis is on rigorous execution of these methodologies and practical relevance of the results.

Keynote speakers: Prof. George Shanthikumar, Richard E. Dauch Chair in Manufacturing and Operations Management, Krannert School of Management at Purdue University and Prof. David Simchi-Levi, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Systems, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will be keynote speakers at the workshop.

Format: The workshop will comprise a single track of approximately 10 high quality presentations spread over 1.5 working days. Each presentation will be of 30 minutes duration followed by 15 minutes of discussion. In addition to the presentations, the workshop program will include a dedicated slot for a poster session featuring work of PhD students.

Submission guidelines: To be considered for the workshop, authors are requested to submit an extended abstract of four pages via email to isb_poms@isb.edu by Sep 10th, 2015. It should describe the contextual motivation of the research problem, a brief discussion of methodology used, main results, and policy / managerial implications. The abstract should also clearly state whether the submission is toward the presentation track or toward the poster session. Submissions will be peer-reviewed and final decisions regarding all acceptances will be communicated by Sep 30th , 2015.

Registration Fees and Expenses: Registration fee for non-student attendees is INR 6000 (USD 100) whereas it is INR 1500 (USD 25) for student attendees. Registration fee will be waived for presenters.
