The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) and Indian School of Business (ISB) organised the POMS International Conference on Supply Chain Challenges in Emerging Economies on December 21-22, 2013. The symposium was organised by POMS in association with the Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing (MIGM) at ISB, which sought to bring together researchers from around the world in investigating the challenges in supply chain efficiencies in various sectors in the emerging economies.  The two-day symposium aimed at disseminating the state-of-the-art research on supply chain challenges and the research opportunities in emerging markets. The conference also provided an opportunity to inquire how academic research findings relate to practice in emerging markets by having leading practitioners as discussants.

Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional organisation representing the interests of POM professionals from around the world.

The purposes of the Society are:
  1. to extend and integrate knowledge that contributes to the improved understanding and practice of production and operations management (POM);
  2. to disseminate information on POM to managers, scientists, educators, students, public and private organisations, national and local governments, and the general public; and
  3. to promote the improvement of POM and its teaching in public and private manufacturing and service organisations throughout the world
