Are you creative with an analytical mind? Do you enjoy problem solving? Can you step into the shoes of a marketing manager and decide how to battle it out in the marketplace. If so, you are invited to participate in Symposium, the annual marketing case competition at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Teams will be given a marketing problem to solve - it may be a company which needs help in launching a product, a product which is threatened by cheap imports , or a company which has international connections but hasn't reached its full global potential.

Rules
  • The competition is open to all students studying in a Post Graduate MBA program of different B-Schools/institutes.
  • The competition involves two rounds - an elimination round and a final round.
  • Participants will be required to register on the Poseidon Website. The last date for registrations is November 27, 2005.
  • A small marketing case comprising implementation issues will be released on the Poseidon website on November 23, 2005 and registered teams will be required to send in their solutions.
  • Each team can comprise a maximum of three members and they should be from the same institute.
  • The word limit for the analysis is 1500 words exclusive of exhibits.
  • The entries are required to be submitted in MS Word, with 1.5 line spacing and font Times New Roman, size 12.
  • Each entry should have a cover page mentioning the Team name, name of the institute, name of team members, and their respective email IDs and telephone numbers.
  • The contestants are required to send only a soft copy of their entry to the following mail id:(symposium@isb.edu) latest by 28th November 2005.
  • Acknowledgement of the receipt of the entries would be sent within 24 hours of the receipt of the entries.
  • Five teams would be short listed for the final round and the authors would be invited to participate in the final round to be held at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
  • The final event will require teams to solve another marketing case and make a presentation on their analysis to a panel of judges.
  • The case for the final event will be released 24 hours before the actual event.
  • The decision of the organizers of the contest and the panel of judges will be final and binding on all contestants.

Deadlines

November 23: mini case released to all B-Schools
November 28: Last day for receipt of entries
December 02: Declaration of results of the first round
December 17: Final competition at ISB Hyderabad.
