Mercado 2011, October 22
The Indian School of Business (ISB) and Retailers Association of India (RAI) aim to bring their synergies together to create an event that explores the world of retail today, especially in the context of management and business issues. “Mercado 2011” is a flagship event that allows members from the industry and management education fields to interact with one another.
The conclave brings together the best minds at the leading-edge of industry, policy and academia to engage in interactive discussions on the potential of retail in India. Every year, the conclave is centered around a theme. This year the theme is “Redefining Retail”. Conducted through various activities, this conclave is a multifaceted exploration on where retail is headed.

Keynote panel discussion on “Redefining Retail: Future & Emerging Trends” with leading figures from the retail industry moderated by a sector specialist.
Presentations by participants of the Retail Club’s “Retail Trigger” competition. During the day, the selected student teams will be manning allotted stalls and implementing their marketing and promotional strategies. The stalls will display merchandise from different brands thus, giving students a hands-on experience at retailing. Later on, the teams will present to the judges.
"Mercado 2011" will culminate in a showcase of brands. ISB's central area will be transformed into a "High Street" with kiosks managed by the finalists of the Retail Club's business competition. The finalists are students from India's leading management schools including the IIM-A, IIM-B and FMS.
Prominent brands will be invited to showcase their merchandise in the kiosks. Finalists will devise promotional and marketing strategies to entice customers. ISB will invite Hyderabad’s shoppers to indulge in their shopping fantasies!
The evening will end on a glamorous note - a fashion event will be held in the ISB Atrium. Participating brands will get to showcase their latest designs at this fashion show.
