Distinguished Visitor

Nobel Laureate Professor Lars Hansen will be a distinguished visitor at the conference. 
 
Lars Peter Hansen  is the David Rockefeller Distinguished Service Professor of economics at the University of Chicago and 2013 recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. 
 
Hansen is a leading expert in economic dynamics who works at the boundaries of macroeconomics, finance, and econometrics. Best known for his work on the Generalized Method of Moments, he is also a distinguished macroeconomist, focusing on the linkages between the financial sector and the macro economy. His current collaborative research develops and applies methods for pricing the exposure to macroeconomic shocks over alternative investment horizons and investigates the implications of the pricing of long-term uncertainty.
 
Among other honors, he received the 2010 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the category of Economy, Finance and Management.
 

Keynote Speaker

Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry from the University of California, Los Angeles, will be the CAF Academic Fellow 2016. He will visit ISB during the summer research conference at the end of July 2016.
 
Bhagwan Chowdhry is a Professor of Finance at UCLA Anderson School of Management, since 1988. He has taught at prestigious intuitions such as the University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Indian School of Business. He has been an influential member of the global community of finance scholars for over 25 years. His research interests are International Finance, Corporate Finance and Strategy. He has also organized and taught Executive Education programs on Financial Derivatives, Corporate Risk Management and Valuation in Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Microfinance has been his recent teaching, research and applied interest. He has developed a new model for "Franchising Microfinance" on which he has written a research paper and is studying the feasibility of implementing the model with a Microfinance Institution.
 
Professor Chowdhry is internationally recognized for his extensive contributions to finance, which have appeared in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Finance and Review of Finance. He is the co-founder (with Professor Ivo Welch) and Executive Editor of a new publication Finance & Accounting Memos (FAMe) that makes academic research more accessible for MBA and PhD students, journalists, policy makers, and other academicians. Further to add to his contributions, Professor Chowdhry has been a key advocate in proposing Financial Access at Birth (FAB) initiative. The initiative’s visions “every child born in the world is given an initial deposit of $100 in an online bank account” aims to guarantee that everyone in the world will have access to financial services in a few decades.  
 
Professor Chowdhry has served on several journal’s editorial boards. Currently, he is an Executive Editor Finance & Accounting Memos (FAMe) fame-jagazine.com, 2014. He served as an  Associate Editor for The Journal of Finance 2001-2003, for Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, 1997-2006, International Review of Finance, 2000-2009 and the California Management Review, 2012.
