Puneet has over 10 years of experience across investing, risk management and operations. An energy enthusiast, Puneet has spent last 5 years across 2 energy start-ups, ReNew Power (2013 – 2016) and Husk Power Systems (2011 - 2013). While the role at Husk Power, a pioneer in rural Microgrids, involved designing and implementing their growth strategy, including mobilizing equity financing for their growth plans, the role at ReNew Power involved mobilizing financing from domestic and international lenders. In addition, Puneet was involved in evaluating M&A opportunities for ReNew and more recently in building their distributed solar business including rooftop solar, solar water pumps, energy storage etc.
Prior to that, Puneet worked with IFC as part of their Asia Infrastructure investing team, working on growth stage equity and project finance investments. This included amongst others a US$450 million loan to the first coal-fired power project developed under GoI’s UMPP scheme. Puneet also spent ~2 years with a risk consulting startup, Axis Risk Consulting at the beginning of his career doing risk management and financial due diligence assignments.
Puneet has been a panelist speaker at several renewable energy conferences across the globe and also held the position of Co-Chair for UN Foundation’s working group on Microgrids (2011 - 2013).
