Venture Capital Investment Competition

Real entrepreneurs… Real business plans… Real venture capitalists

VCIC 2012

15th Annual Venture Capital Investment Competition

The ISB Venture Capital Investment Competition 2012 (ISB VCIC 2012) is a unique reverse business plan competition, where students place themselves in the shoes of the venture capitalists for one day, and evaluate business plans and pitches from start-up companies. The teams are given the opportunity to negotiate with the entrepreneur of their choice, based on the result of their sessions with each one of the entrepreneurs. The competition will be judged by a panel of highly experienced venture capitalists.

This is a three-stage competition:

India Round: Six teams of five students each, from B-schools across India will fight for supremacy.

Asia Round: The top two teams from the India Round and one team each from the top B-schools of Asia will participate.
International Round: The winner of Asia Round will get an opportunity to compete against teams from other continents.

VCIC offers a Win-Win-Win proposition to all participants

Students have the opportunity to evaluate business plans of real-life entrepreneurs, negotiate term-sheets, make an investment decision and convince the VCs with their investment rationale. Those seeking employment in the highly-coveted VC Industry get a platform to showcase their skills to VCs.

Entrepreneurs get the opportunity to network with prominent VCs who specialise in start-up funding and receive feedback on their business ideas from students.

For VCs, this is a departure from the run-of-the-mill business plan competitions, which are now common place.

Quotes

For the students, the exposure provided by the competition has been tremendous. The ISB students put up a great show and I have tremendous respect for them.
