Benefits
Participants will learn:
- About current courses in entrepreneurship and the pedagogical tools available to teach entrepreneurship
- To design entrepreneurship courses appropriate to their expertise and the needs of their institution, students and geographies
- To write cases and business plans
- New course delivery skills such as teaching using the Case method and teaching business planning courses
- To teach behavioral skills such as self-evaluation, building high performance teams, giving effective feedback, negotiation and leadership
- Skills needed to consult with entrepreneurial ventures and to mentor start-up teams
 Participants
Faculty from management and technology institutions who have a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Preference will be given to faculty who are:
- Currently teaching general management courses or have taught these courses at least once in the last two years
- Affiliated with institutions that are either committed to starting a course in entrepreneurship or that already offer entrepreneurship courses
Please note that this is an intensive course that requires significant time commitment from the participants.
Dates and Venue
The Entrepreneurship Educator Development Course is structured as a four-module course involving both classroom interactions and field assignments.
Module 1 Date: January 5 - 8, 2009 Venue: ISB Campus, Hyderabad
Module 2 Date: January 9 - April 12, 2009 Take Home Assignment
Module 3 Date: April 13 - 16, 2009 Venue: ISB Campus, Hyderabad
Module 4 Date: April 17 - May 20, 2009 Take Home Assignment
Fee
Funding from Wadhwani Foundation makes it possible to offer scholarships to all participants. After scholarship, participants pay INR 12,000, which is a significantly reduced fee that includes tuition, class materials, meals, and accomodation at the ISB for eight days. The fee does not include travel and incidental expenses. 
Faculty
Phillip H Phan, Ph.D. Dr Phan is the Warren H Bruggeman ’46 and Pauline Urban Bruggeman Distinguished Professor at the Lally School of Management and Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA. He is a Bosch Public Policy Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin. He teaches a wide range of subjects including Technological Entrepreneurship, Technology Policy, and Corporate Governance in Emerging Economies. He has also been a consultant to organisations such as the World Bank, Singapore Airlines, IBM Canada, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific, Agilent Asia Pacific, Ernst and Young, and various technology start-ups and venture capital firms. Dr Phan’s research has been published in journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Academy of Management Journal, Research Policy, and Journal of Management.
Kavil Ramachandran, Ph.D. Dr Ramachandran is Clinical Professor of Business at the ISB where he teaches entrepreneurship. Prior to joining the ISB, he has taught at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for 16 years. His consulting experience includes areas such as strategic planning, identification of new opportunities for growth, corporate entrepreneurship and turn around strategies for small and medium enterprises. He has also taught executive education programmes such as Growth Strategies, Sustaining Competitive Advantage, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Succession Planning in Family Businesses, Professionalisation of Family Businesses and Opportunity Identification for Growth.
Ramakrishna Velamuri, Ph.D. Dr Velamuri is Associate Professor at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Shanghai, China, where he teaches Entrepreneurship and Negotiation in the MBA and Executive programmes. He has also participated regularly in faculty development programmes in Spain and India. He previously taught for four years at the IESE Business School in Spain, where he was the Academic Director of IESE's Global Executive MBA and Inside India programmes. Dr Velamuri's research has been published in journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance and Business Ventures. He works as a consultant for organisations such as the World Bank and IFC and as a consultant, board member and advisor to private companies.
