Strengthening Research to Marketplace linkages

Brief background

This study is an effort to study and analyse the factors of conduciveness of India’s innovation system. It will also particularly explore ways to strengthen research to marketplace linkages. Finally, the study will help define areas where WCED could play a facilitative role.

Key objectives

  1. Consolidate knowledge-creation efforts by institutions (public R&D institutions, universities, domestic and multinational enterprises) and beyond (community and individuals)
  2. Study and analyse information flow and diffusion of knowledge and institutional support for commercialising knowledge
  3. Study conduciveness of current policy frameworks, government programme support, financial ecosystem (for knowledge-creation, dissemination, application and governance systems 
  4. Identify ways and approaches to promote, identify, value-add and scale up grassroots innovations
  5. Identify new models of innovation that encourage collaborative efforts amongst government, business, academia, R&D and society
  6. Propose actionable recommendations for evolving a holistic innovation ecosystem that accelerates the transition from research to marketplace

Current stage

Baseline stage: A framework for analysing the innovation ecosystem has been proposed. Current efforts are towards using this framework to understand the issues, gaps and opportunities in the research-2-marketplace subsystem.
