Workshop on Entrepreneurship Teaching
Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at the ISB, Hyderabad organised a three-day workshop on Entrepreneurship Teaching during the third week of February 2003. The first initiative of its kind in the country, the workshop was part-funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Participation in the workshop was by invitation and twenty-three attendees, from 19 premier technology and management institutions participated in it.

The primary objective of the workshop was to debate and decide the contents of an entrepreneurship curriculum that would be relevant to a rapidly evolving and competitive business environment. The group discussions focused on generating a list of courses that would be relevant to both engineering and management educational institutions in the country. The groups developed course themes, content, pedagogy and evaluation criteria.

Sri N. J. Yesaswy, renowned educationist and an entrepreneur in the field of education inaugurated the workshop. He lauded the initiative of bringing together teachers of entrepreneurship from leading institutions in the country in order to create a common platform to debate and fine-tune the content and delivery of entrepreneurship education. He asserted that the key element missing from the inputs provided by institutions of higher learning in the country was in the area of entrepreneurship.

ISB’s effort at bringing together entrepreneurship educators from across the country was universally appreciated and participants felt that the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences would help them immensely in taking specific steps to fine-tune entrepreneurship education in their respective institutions and in championing its cause.
