Overview

Introducing

ISB Insights Forum

ISB was founded on the premise that academic research that was locally relevant and globally respected plays a vital role in creating a vibrant business eco system. We are proud that we have made some progress in building a community of scholars who use cutting edge research tools and theories to solve thorny problems that India faces as it develops.

ISB’s faculty have worked on areas ranging from health care delivery to financial inclusion. We would like to create a forum where our community of scholars engage with other important stakeholders to co-create actionable agendas to create a bright future for the planet’s 8 billion people.

WHY 2047?

The Inaugural edition of the ISB Insights Forum envisages bringing together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, thinkers, bankers, policymakers and academia on a single platform to articulate what we need to do to create a better and inclusive world for ourselves by 2047.

It has great emotional resonance. It would have been 100 years since India’s independence and the world’s largest experiment with democracy. India has made tremendous strides since independence.  But there is much more to be done. There is much talk about the demographic dividend, and how the time is right for India to take the next leap forward. The demographic dividend will not last forever; the estimate is that it will peak in 2041.

The plans, policies and strategies we make now will have a great chance of being successfully executed at the time we enjoy the greatest demographic dividend. The years till the 2040’s will therefore be an appropriate time for us to consider and 2047 is a great focal point by all accounts.
